Sometimes you just have to shake your head.
However, this PowerPoint presentation that I found on another blog makes you shake your head…and then shake it some more. It’s a presentation put together by Newberry Christian Ministries (South Carolina) about the problem with homosexuality.
Why do homosexuals have to fight so hard for equal rights?
One of the biggest barriers to equal rights is misinformation like the trash in that Power Point presentation. It’s the sermons that are preached every week in these places of worship. Presentations like this one degrade the word ‘worship’ in my opinion. Presentations of hate such as this make words like ‘worship’ and ‘church’ virtually meaningless.
And let’s be honest – this isn’t the first church or the last that preaches this trash. Every once in a while, a crap, hate-filled sermon hits the news, like Worley’s when he advocated for putting gays and lesbians in concentration camps.
If some of these are being reported on, how many aren’t? How many churches are being turned into havens for misinformation and hate?
After all, most churches don’t make Power Point presentations and have them uploaded to the internet.
Let’s have a look at some of the slides included in the presentation.
You have to be kidding me.
The guy is trying to link homosexuality with Nazism, for crying out loud. The Nazi’s wanted to kill homosexuals – gay organizations were banned, homosexuals within the Nazi Party were murdered and thousands of homosexuals were rounded up and imprisoned in concentration camps. Even after the war, the German government didn’t apologize to the gay community and some were even arrested again based on Nazi evidence and imprisoned.
To insinuate that homosexuality is in any way related to Nazism is absurd to say the least.
What I’d love to know is why people in these congregations don’t say something when their Pastor is spouting nonsense like this?
And you’ll notice that the majority of the slides (that isn’t all of them) concentrate heavily on male homosexuality and ignore the female version all together.
Could you imagine if groups started making slides like this about…say…Natives or African Americans?
How many kids are going to church and having their heads filled with this nonsense? How many are being taught to hate homosexuals?
Presentations and sermons like this one are one of the biggest reasons why homosexuals have to fight so hard for equal rights. Being gay isn’t some sort of mental disorder and it isn’t something that can be chalked up to an invisible, supernatural demon.
