If you’ve never seen the FX Network series "Sons of Anarchy", you might want to look it up and give it a try.
The show is about a California-based outlaw motorcycle gang and reminds me a lot of ‘The Sopranos’ without the HBO type swearing and daily soft-core porn. The characters in SoA aren’t as interesting or authentic as the Sopranos either, but that doesn’t mean SoA doesn’t do a good job.
Sons of Anarchy revolves mainly around the clubs Vice President, Jax, who is conflicted about whether or not to continue to support the clubs illegal activities or whether to try and steer the club towards legitimate business ventures, like his late father originally intended.
However, the rest of the cast, which includes Ron Pearlman (never been a fan but he does a fairly decent job) who plays the club President, Jax’s mother played by Katey Sagal (Peggy from Married with Children) and the other cast members add a lot to the show.
You would think a show about a Harley gang would feature motorcycles a lot, but that’s not really the case. The show does have a few good chase scenes but the bikes themselves are usually in the background and don’t play a main role. The show mainly involves the conflicts within the club, their criminal enterprises, revenge and their various plots and counter-plots.
From a personal point of view, I thought the first season was good, the second season was amazing, the third season lacked excitement and the fourth was about as good as the first season.
The show also has some dark humor and for any ladies reading this, a number of my female friends find Jax to be nearly irresistible. I'm starting to think I should get some tatoos and start learning how to ride motorcycles. Anyone know if they make motorcyles with training wheels?
Anyhow, SoA offers a bit of everything to everyone; it has some dark humor, sexy bits, action, intrigue, plots, colorful characters, chase scenes and decent acting and storyline.
If you’re looking to kill a few hours watching a TV series, you can do a heck of a lot worse than watching Sons of Anarchy.
