The LPHS Secular Student Alliance based out of La Porte High School in Texas wanted to have some flyers put up to advertise their group. They were required to submit their flyer to the school administrators for approval and the picture below shows what the school administrators thought of their inoffensive flyer.
So let me get this straight - informing people what the word 'atheist' means could 'disrupt the education process'. Isn't informing people part of the education process?
It's not like the sign said something malicious such as 'God is a mass delusion' or 'There is no fairy in the sky'. The sign merely gives the definition of what an atheist is and does so politely and informatively. As far as I can see, there is nothing about that sign that should disrupt anything unless you hate atheists and feel offended that they can put up a sign that says atheist isn't a bad word and informing people that they exist.
Imagine if the sign had said something like:
Christian:
It's not a bad word! It is someone who believes Jesus Christ is the Son of God .
America was founded on equality, tolerance and respect.
Think it would have been scratched out and the people responsible for the sign told that it might disrupt the education process?
Give me a break...
